Some of the suggestions are definitely unique.

A North American hockey team is asking the internet for help in naming their adorable security puppy.

The Winnipeg Jets took to social media on Monday to try and figure out a name for the newest four-legged recruit at the arena they play at.

According to CTV, the dog is one of the three puppies joining the arena’s in house security team, which currently has two adult members named Dante and Daisy.

All of the animals are being trained for explosive ordnance disposal.

The three heart-melting recruits, all Black Labrador Retrievers, where introduced to the public last week.

One was named Grace, in a nod to the musician Gord Downie, while another was named Ryp in honour of the late hockey player Rick Rypien.

The final pup, however, is set to be named by fans.

Social media users were quick to throw in their own suggestions for the tiny pup.

But the list of the possible names was actually suggested by season ticket holders, and the team later narrowed it down to four choices.

The four options are:

  1. Lenny/Kroppy
  2. Ducky
  3. Benny
  4. Scout

Three of the names in particular hold sentimental value for fans of the team.

According to NHL.com, Benny was the name of the team’s original mascot in the ’80s and ’90s.

Ducky was the nickname of one of the team’s former forwards, Dale Hawerchuck.

Meanwhile, Lenny/Kroppy would be for World War II veteran Len Kropioski, a longtime fan and season-ticket holder who passed away at 98 before the last season.

Anyone who wants to cast a vote can do so on the Jets’ website until 5.59am on Thursday morning (11.59pm Wednesday night local time).
