Here’s what the people of Ireland Googled the most in 2024

‘Baby Reindeer’, the Euros, and Kate Middleton- Ireland’s most searched for topics has been revealed.

Google has revealed Ireland’s most searched for topics of 2024.

The data comes each year as Google releases a list of the top most search for topics, people, events and words. 

This year, Euros 2024 topped the overall search list following a dramatic tournament which ended with Spain triumphing over England.

The US Election, Kate Middleton, ‘Baby Reindeer’ and the Olympics were all named amongst the year’s top five most searched for.

Additionally, Oasis, ‘Saltburn’, ‘Fool Me Once’, Bambie Thug and Donald Trump all made the top ten list of overall most searched titles.

As for the most searched for people of the year, Kate Middleton topped the list which also featured Donald Trump, Kellie Harrington, Daniel Wiffen and Luke Littler.

‘Saltburn’, which stars Barry Keoghan, was the most searched for movie of the year, joining the likes of ‘Beetlejuice’, and Cillian Murphy and Eileen Walsh’s ‘Small Things Like These’.

As for celebrities, former One Direction singer Liam Payne was Ireland’s most searched for following his death in Argentina this past October.

This was followed by British teenager Jay Slater who went missing and was later found dead while on holiday in Tenerife. 

Also making the list were Maggie Smith, Charlie Bird and Ian Bailey.

In sports, as well as being the overall most searched, Euros 2024 was evidently the most searched for sports topics.

The Olympics and Paralympics, Ireland v New Zealand and Ireland v England made up the top five on this list.

TV’s most searched was the thrilling true story of ‘Baby Reindeer’, with fellow Netflix’s hit shows ‘The Perfect Stranger’, starring Eve Hewson, and ‘One Day’ also making the top five.
