A company who has a Halloween event were forced to apologise after some of the actors, dressed like clowns, entered a school premises and “terrified” the students.
Newpark Comprehensive School in Blackrock, Dublin called the Gardai after three actors dressed up as ‘creepy clowns’ entered the grounds. The incident occurred last Thursday when three actors, holding fake weapons including a chainsaw, caused students and teachers to panic after approaching them on the school’s campus.
According to The Herald, one mother said the students were “deeply shocked” and said, “They had creepy laughter. My daughter told me that at least one teacher was panicking.
“One of the sixth-year students was screaming, telling everyone to stay indoors.”
They hadn’t sought permission to enter the school premises and caught some second year students by surprise as they were leaving a PE class.
The event itself, The Nightmare Realm, is being held at the RDS, and sees actors purposefully trying to scare people. A number of actors were doing some promotional work for the attraction when they accidentally entered the school’s campus.
They are said to have mistaken the school for a public space and unintentionally entered. The company is saying that the actors, who were dresses like clowns, are originally from Cork and were lost in Blackrock.
The creator of The Nightmare Realm, Karl O’Connor, said he wanted to, “extend our sincere apologies to the students, their parents, and the staff of Newpark Comprehensive School…for any distress caused”.
He also added that the actors were “out and about in Blackrock that day, dressed in full costume” to promote the event.
“Unfortunately, they wandered into the grounds of Newpark Comprehensive – this was not authorised by The Nightmare Realm,” he continued.
