Eight people are believed dead after a gunman opened fire at a restaurant in the Czech Republic earlier today.
According to reports this evening, a man burst into the restaurant and started “shooting indiscriminately” in the eastern town of Uhersky Brod.
BBC News reports that the gunman killed eight people before shooting himself.
The town’s mayor, Patrik Kunčar, spoke to state television: “I assume this was an isolated incident.
“We have various anti-terrorist measures but we can see that, here, probably a lone shooter struck with no warning”.
It is thought that there were up to 20 people in the restaurant at the time and a number were injured in the attack.
Uherský Brod is located 180 miles south-east of the city of Prague.
