The government has tonight agreed to hold a referendum on the 8th Amendment.
After a cabinet meeting this evening, it has been confirmed that a referendum will be held later this year to remove article 40.3.3 from the constitution.
Early reports suggest this will happen in May although this has not yet been confirmed.

It’s believed that Minister for Health, Simon Harris has been given permission to draft legislation that will then be introduced into the constitution if the amendment is repealed.
