Good News! It Looks Like A Return To Good Weather Next Week

Better grab the suncream.

After a weekend of rainfall and flash floods, it seems there’s light at the end of the tunnel. Or at least the sun will be re-appearing next week.

Don’t go packing away the sunglasses just yet, as Met Eireann have signalled the chance of a mini-heatwave by next weekend.

According to Met Éireann, a band of high pressure from the north and over Scandinavia is expected to push down over Ireland next week – sending temperatures rising to 23C or 24C.

Met Éireann forecaster John Eagleton said:

“We’re seeing a real jump in temperatures, with the possibility of them hitting 23C or 24C next week and beyond.

“It would be a bit premature to say we’re definitely looking at another heatwave but certainly we shouldn’t give up hope. The high pressure is there so it could develop over Ireland.”

While the week ahead will be a mixture of sunshine and scattered showers, the good news is the sun will (hopefully) be shining by next Friday.

The news comes after heavy rainfall in the east and midlands this weekend, with up to 89mm of rainfall recorded.
