She’s done it again!
Total knockout Katie Taylor moved one step closer to Olympic Gold this afternoon with a win over Manzuna Chorieva of Tajikistan in her semi-final bout.
The 26-year Bray boxer was more than a match for 19-year-old Chorieva, and beat her on a final score of 19 points to 7.
Taylor, the pride of Team Ireland, is now guaranteed a silver medal, and will go out all guns blazing to fight for Olympic gold tomorrow. Speaking after her first match the four-time World Champion boxer said; ‘I’m going for a gold medal and nothing else’.
Katie will take on Sofya Ochigava of Russia for tomorrow’s final, Ochigava is currently rated number two in the world, behind Taylor.
The final will take place at 16:45 tomorrow afternoon, when the country will most likely come to a standstill to cheer on its champion daughter.
Best of luck Katie, we’re all behind you!
