Their set is one of the most anticipated of the weekend.
A crowd warning has been issued by Glastonbury bosses ahead of Kneecap’s set today (Saturday, June 28).
The Mirror reported that the organisers said: “Kneecap will draw a large audience for their 4 pm West Holts show. If you’re not planning to see them, please plan alternative routes around that area.
“If you do plan to attend, listen to stewards, and please have some other entertainment options in mind in case the field reaches capacity and we need to close it as part of our crowd planning measures.”
Kate Nash was also mentioned in relation to crowd control as they said she appears to be someone who “looks set to draw a big crowd to Left Field at 9 pm, so please arrive early if you’re hoping to catch her set.”
They added: “Scissor Sisters will be very busy at Woodsies at 10.30pm. It’s likely we’ll need to close the field once it reaches capacity as part of our crowd planning measures. Charlie XCX will also be popular in our new enlarged Other Stage arena at 10.30pm.”
Kneecap’s upcoming set has caused controversy in the past few weeks as British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said that if the BBC broacasted their set it would not be “appropriate”.
However, the broadcast has said that it will be airing their performance.
In a statement ahead of Kneecap’s set, the BBC said: “As the broadcast partner, the BBC will be bringing audiences extensive music coverage from Glastonbury, with artists booked by the festival organisers.
“Whilst the BBC doesn’t ban artists, our plans will ensure that our programming will meet our editorial guidelines. Decisions about our output will be made in the lead up to the festival.”
Their set will begin at 4 pm and will be shown on the BBC iPlayer.
