Gardaí shut down suspected shebeen in Edenderry, Co Offaly.
Gardaí in Edenderry, Co Offaly, raided a suspected shebeen as part of Operation Navigation yesterday, seizing a significant amount of alcohol in the process.
There were a number of people drinking alcohol when the Gardaí arrived and there were alleged breaches of liquor licencing legislation going on. The people consuming alcohol at the premises will be hit with a fixed fine in an alleged breach of Regulation 4 of the Health Act.
A significant amount of alcohol was also located at the premises, including a number of kegs, that were all seized during the operation.
Offaly Gardaí found a number of persons on a premises today consuming alcohol.
This was in breach of liquor licencing legislation in support of current public health measures.

A Garda spokesperson said: “The Covid-19 pandemic remains a public health crisis and An Garda Síochána continues to appeal to all citizens to comply with Public Health Guidelines and Regulations in order to save lives.”

Enquiries are ongoing and a file has been prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
