Gardaí have issued a warning to inform the public that a sex offender, who is thought to still pose a risk to children, entered the country on Friday.
According to the Sunday World, Frenchman Philippe Gandus (46) flew into Dublin airport from Cologne, Germany, on Friday morning.
The newspaper reports that officers stopped him on his arrival but, because he has no convictions or warrants in Ireland, were unable to prevent him from entering the country despite finding children’s toys in his suitcase.
Gandus is apparently on an international watch list due to his previous conviction, where he tried to abduct a three-year-old, and the fact that he has been deported from the US and banned from the UK.
There is no indication of how long he is planning to stay in the country but Gardaí are said to be trying to monitor him as best they can.
