Further Luas Strikes Are Planned For The Easter Weekend

Ellen Tannam

Luas drivers who are members of the trade union SIPTU have served notice of further strike action on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday.

RTÉ News report that the Luas operator Transdev have received formal notice of the additional strike action earlier this morning.

Two further days of stoppages are scheduled for March 8th and 17th.

The dispute has arisen over drivers lobbying for pay increases of up to 53%. The managing director of Transdev has said the further strike action will jeopardise people’s plans for the 1916 commemorations.

The further work stoppages are in relation to a dispute involving drivers only, rather than other employees of Transdev.
