Balfes at the Westbury is not within my 5km essential travel zone, and this makes me profoundly sad.
As soon as life gets back to normal, or even something approaching that, I’ll be straight into the bistro, located at The Westbury hotel, for brunch. I’ll be having the ham and egg omelette with a side of fries, and an Aperol Spritz for dessert, thanks.
Oh and I’m also looking forward to a good gaze at their stunning red, white and black artwork (which I have many times theorised about stealing off the walls) to top off the experience.

In good news, any frontline workers who can access Dublin City centre can get the Balfes experience for free tomorrow, Friday May 15, 2020.
The bar and grill is offering a complimentary breakfast or lunch to frontline workers to say thanks to the people who are doing so much for the rest of us during the Covid-19 pandemic.
There are two menu options from each meal, which you can find below.
The service will be drive-thru: pull up at the restaurant’s Harry Street entrance – at the back of the Westbury – between 8am and 9.30am for breakfast, and between 12pm and 1.30pm for lunch.
It’s that simple, and a really lovely way to give back to the people who deserve it most.
