Italian media outlets are claiming that the driver of the truck which killed 12 people at a Berlin Christmas market has been killed.

According to The Independent, Anis Amri, was killed during a shoot out in Milan this morning.

Very few details have been confirmed but it’s expected that there will be a press conference in the next few minutes confirming the news.

A spokesperson for North Jutland Police had previously said, “A man with a description similar to the perpetrator of the incident in Berlin on 19 December has been observed in the area around Eternitten in Aalbor.”

Then earlier this morning a man was stopped during a routine search in Milan and a shoot out followed. One policeman was injured while the man in question was shot dead.
