Tributes have been paid to a Dublin-based nurse, Priscila Leonardi, who was found dead in Brazil just days ago.

The young women had been living and working in Ireland since 2019 but had not been seen since mid-June, after travelling home to Brazil.

It is understood that she returned home for one month and was last seen on June 19th getting into a cab.

Her body was later found on the banks of the Ibirapuita River in Alegrete, Rio Grande do Sul state in Brazil.

According to the Sun, it was then confirmed by officers that her remains were discovered with a lanyard around her neck, while the autopsy suggested that she may have died from strangulation.

Following the discovery, Priscila was laid to rest in Brazil.

Reports have suggested that local police are investigating the possibility that Priscila was murdered over an inheritance dispute.

Her lawyer released a statement saying she had disagreements with “some people.”

Local police chief, Fernanda Mendonca, said: “The autopsy results showed that she was murdered based on the injuries the examiner found.

“We know there was an inheritance and an ongoing probate process that was still unresolved. It’s something we consider as a possibility.”

Meanwhile her friend, Liege Monteiro, told the publication: “This news has left us incredibly perplexed because she was such a calm girl, had lots of friends, and made friendships easily.

“We’re devastated by this situation, it has caused immense grief.”
