One of the first serious incidents involving the ‘creepy clown trend’ has happened in Ireland.
The trend has swept the UK and America and sees people dressing up in ‘creepy clown’ costumes and terrorising unsuspecting members of the public. Most of the cases reported have happened in public places but unfortunately it’s starting to occur during home break-ins too.
And now it appears it’s spread to Ireland.
One of the first serious incidents has occured this week and involved an axe wielding clown breaking into a home in Kildare. According to Kildare Now, a man, believed to be about 6ft, entered a home in Kildare wearing an orange jump-suit and waved around an axe, leaving a young child terrorised.
Later, I heard my child screaming in the kitchen. My boyfriend left a scream at him and he was gone. My child was petrified, she does not want to go out for Halloween now. She was asking all night, ‘ are you sure the monster is not coming?”
It’s not the first time the ‘creepy clown’ trend was reported in Ireland with the Gardaí receiving concerned calls from members of the public when youngsters dressed as clowns were jumping out at cars in other areas of Kildare.
