A couple in Tennessee have been arrested after leaving their 15-month-old baby girl in the car while they went grocery shopping.
Shelby County Sherriff’s Office apparently received a call around 4.30pm on Saturday. Both police and fire-fighters arrived at the scene.
There they found the child locked in a Nissan Altima with the windows up. The engine was not running but temperatures were reportedly around 90 degrees Fahrenheit.
After breaking the window, emergency services took the baby, who was in a stable condition, to Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.
It is unclear as to how long she had been in the vehicle but officers said her parents, Brittany Zanetti (25) and Matthew Brown (28), were “aware” that they had left their child in the car.
Both were arrested and face charges of child abuse and neglect of a child under six years old. On Sunday they got out of jail on bond of $10,000 each and are due in court today.
According to numerous reports, the one-year-old is now in the custody of her grandparents after leaving the hospital.
