Christina Grimmie was laid to rest in a private ceremony on Thursday.
After performing at a concert in Orlando last Friday, the 22-year-old was shot dead by Kevin Loibl who then turned the gun on himself.
Christina’s brother Marcus first instinct was to tackle his sister’s attacker and thus prevented him from killing anyone else.
At a public memorial held for the talented music star on Friday, Christina’s mother Tina bravely stood up and paid tribute to her son.
The Daily Express reports that Tina spoke about her daughter and in turn, praised her son.
“Marcus, I want to say this publicly and from everyone. I want everyone to know he has been good to his mama. He has loved me and he has stood by my side”.
In floods of tears, Tina told the crowd how close she was to her daughter with heartbreaking words.
“I always told her I loved her…I just want her to come home and I want to see her”.
Christina often spoke of her mother and her strength through her ongoing battle with breast cancer and this gave her inspiration when singing and performing.
