A hostage situation has been reported in the Northern French Town of Robaix.
Reports say that a group of armed men may have taken hostages at around 7pm local time, although reports on the exact location within the town are mixed.
BBC reports that a neighbourhood has been closed off by local police and various witnesses report hearing gunshots fired.
It is not yet clear whether the incident is related to the Paris attacks which took place on the 13th November.
A source told Reuters: “An operation is underway after hostages were taken. Gunshots were fired and the neighborhood has been cordoned off.
“A bank director and his family may have been taken as hostages.”
