The North terminal of Gatwick Airport was evacuated this morning after the discovery of a ‘suspicious package’.
The airport released a statement reading: “Due to an incident – the North Terminal has been evacuated as a precautionary measure. Extra staff on-site looking after passenger welfare.”

Sussex Police confirmed that the terminal had been evacuated for “the protection of the public”.
