The former Bosco presenter passed away in the care of the staff at Tallaght University Hospital on May 2nd.
She is survived by her husband Séamas, her daughter Aoife, her son Connla, her extended family, and her wide circle of friends.
She was best known for presenting Bosco in the 1970s and 1980s.
People have been fondly remembering the presenter with touching tributes being paid online.
One person wrote, "So sorry to hear this. I grew up watching Bosco and loving Grainne, Frank, Marion, and all the wonderful presenters. May Grainne rest in peace."
Another said, "Rest in peace, Grainne. I used to like her when she was on Bosco in the 80s, and I heard it last night. Can't believe she has died."
One added, "This lady was beautiful and classy.. As a kid, I was pillar to post all around Cork City and County. TV shows like this and the Wanderly Wagon made that messy kids' life a lot easier, I dare say it did for many of us. Thank you for the good memories."
One said, "Her presenting of Bosco was my first memories in life and it is a sad day all round for kids back then on her passing."
Another person wrote, "RIP Grainne and thank you for being a part of my childhood memories."
The details of Gráinne Uí Mhaitiú's funeral have not yet been announced.
