Boris Johnson announces birth of “healthy baby girl”

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and his wife Carrie have announced the "birth of a healthy baby girl at a London hospital earlier today", according to Metro.co.uk. This is the couple's second child together, with their first baby Wilfred born in April of last year, only a month after Johnson's battle with Covid-19. Announcing they were expecting their second child, Carrie revealed on Instagram that she had suffered a miscarriage at the beginning of this year and felt "incredibly blessed to be pregnant again but I’ve also felt like a bag of nerves." Openly talking about her own fertility issues, Carrie urged others to discuss their own on social media and aimed to create a safe space. She wrote: "Hoping for our rainbow baby this Christmas. "At the beginning of the year, I had a miscarriage which left me heartbroken. "I feel incredibly blessed to be pregnant again but I've also felt like a bag of nerves. "Fertility issues can be really hard for many people, particularly when on platforms like Instagram it can look like everything is only ever going well. "I found it a real comfort to hear from people who had also experience loss so I hope that in some small way sharing this might help others, too." The newborn's name is yet to be released and if they go the same route they did with Wilfred, it will be a sentimental one. They named him Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson, after both of their grandfathers and the doctors who treated the Prime Minister while he was in intensive care during his Covid battle.
