A body that was recovered from the River Corrib near Galway Cathedral yesterday evening has been confirmed as missing teen Sean Igoe.
Sean went missing on Thursday night, with family and friends conducting a huge search operation in the Galway area for the past few days. Sean was a first year student at NUI Galway and yesterday the NUIG Chaplaincy Service asked for prayers for Sean and his family.
The Igoe family posted their appreciation to everyone who took part in the search on the Facebook page set up to help with the search operation:
The Igoe family wish to thank everyone who took part in the search or helped in any other way to find their beloved son, Seán. The family will spend this evening and tomorrow morning by themselves for time together after their tragic loss and to reunite with their daughter Caitriona who is arriving home from America. The family look forward to seeing their friends and neighbours tomorrow, Sunday evening. The family will follow with a further notice when funeral arrangements are finalised.
