Spanish police are investigating the death of an Irish man after his body was discovered on a beach in the Costa del Sol.
According to reports from The Irish Examiner, his body was discovered by people walking on the beach, and the specific location is yet to be confirmed.
The man is said to be in his 40s and believed to be from Cork.
Officers from the Spanish Guardia Civil have closed off the scene and a post-mortem exam is due to take place soon, which will determine the course of the police investigation.
As of now, the Guardia Civil is trying to establish the man's last known movements, with a review of CCTV footage from the area and local businesses.
A Department of Foreign Affairs spokesperson revealed to the publication that they are aware of the incident and are providing consular assistance.
"The Department does not comment on the details of individual consular cases," the spokesperson said.
