Gardaí believe the bodies of a man and a young child which were discovered in a home in Dublin are that of father and daughter.
Emergency services and gardaí were called to a house in Heathfield estate in Finglas shortly before 8pm yesterday, Saturday, September 27, where the bodies of an adult man and a girl, believed to be as young as six, were discovered.
The bodies of the deceased, who are reported to be from eastern Europe, were removed from the scene by ambulance around midday today (September 28) and post mortem examinations will now be carried out.
Furthermore, an investigation into their deaths is under way.
The location has been preserved for forensic examination by the Garda Technical Bureau and the Coroner was notified and the services of the Office of the State Pathologist have been requested.
Gardaí say they are keeping an open mind on the case; however, there does not appear to be any signs of a break-in or indication of any third party involvement.
They have stressed that the investigation is at a very early stage.
An incident room under a senior investigating officer has been set up and a family liaison officer has been appointed.
