Ben Affleck reveals he has received treatment for alcohol abuse

The actor and director revealed the news on his Facebook page.

Ben Affleck has revealed that he has received treatment for alcohol abuse. The actor and Oscar-winning director wrote:

"I have completed treatment for alcohol addiction; something I've dealt with in the past and will continue to confront. I want to live life to the fullest and be the best father I can be."

In his statement, Affleck - who also received treatment for alcohol addiction in 2001 - thanked his 'co-parent' Jennifer Garner and insisted he was making steps towards a positive recovery. It was recently announced that Affleck would be stepping away from directing duties for the next Batman film, although he will still produce and star in the movie. Matt Reeves has stepped in to the director's chair for the follow up to the much derided Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice.
