A body has been discovered in the search for missing student Brian Gubbins.
19-year-old University of Limerick student Brian was last seen around at the Carbon nightclub in Galway on Thursday night.
Update: 12.59pm – Gardaí have confirmed that a body was found at around 10am this morning in the water at Bridge Street in the city.
A post-mortem is now due to take place.
Minister For Environment Alan Kelly shared his condolences with the Gubbins’ family on Twitter:
My thoughts & prayers today are with the Gubbins family. RIP Brian. Thanks to his friends & neighbours from Nenagh who took part in search.

An appeal was launched by the friends of Gubbins and a search began at 9am this morning from the Mill Street Garda Station in the centre of the city.
Brian, a journalism and new media student, attended a mystery tour with some college friends on Thursday, however failed to return to catch the bus home.
A Twitter account @helpfindbrian had been set up by friends to help gather information.
