The investigation into Annie McCarrick’s death continues

The family of Annie McCarrick believes their missing daughter was killed by someone she knew.

According to a report by The Sun, McCarrick’s family has always believed their daughter was harmed by a man who was “obsessed with her.”

A source close to the family told the publication:

“The family, especially Annie’s dad, always maintained that she was killed by someone she knew.

“Annie’s best friend Linda raised these concerns with Gardaí in 2022 when she came to Ireland. She was instrumental in the Gardai re-examining alibis from the time.”

The news comes after a man in his 60s was arrested on suspicion of the murder of Annie McCarrick.

Last week, Gardaí confirmed that they arrested a man on suspicion of murder, but he was later released without charge.

Gardaí also launched a search operation at a residence in Clondalkin, Dublin 22. Elements of that house and garden will be searched and subject to both technical and forensic examinations.

The current residents of this home are not connected in any way with Annie McCarrick or her disappearance.

In 1993, Annie vanished without a trace from her home in Sandymount, Dublin. Aged just 27, the young woman was never seen again.

Gardaí have been investigating her disappearance and alleged murder for over three decades.

The American student moved to Ireland in 1993 after she fell in love with the country.

Gardaí have urged anyone with information about her 1993 disappearance to contact the investigation team.

The investigation team can be contacted at Irishtown Garda Station on 01 666 9600.

Anyone who wishes to provide information confidentially should contact the Garda Confidential Line: 1800 666 111.
