The parents of Boy B have spoken out for the first time and claimed their son is not a monster.
In an interview with the Mail on Sunday, his parents stressed that he isn't "the monster people are calling him".
His parents agreed that he is a "stupid boy" for his involvement in Ana Kriegel's murder, but said he is no murderer.
The interview, which took place in the family's home, marks the first time his parents have spoken since their son was found guilty.
Boy B's father said he doesn't want Ana's parents to feel like he's taking away from their grief by speaking out about his son.
"I do not want the Kriégel family to think that I am trying to take anything away from their pain. I am not," he said.
The dad continued, "For us, as parents, we know what the boy is like. But the country, the world, does not. For us talking to you now, it’s just to let people know… that our child isn’t this monster that people are calling him."
His parents said their son was scared and shocked when Boy A attacked Ana, but he was too scared to stop him.
"I asked: "Why didn't you help her?" He said: "I couldn't because I froze. My brain completely froze and I couldn't do it. What [Boy A] was doing to her..."
"'He said: "I didn't know what to do," he added.
In November 2019, Boy A was sentenced to life for the murder of Ana Kriegel.
He was also sentenced to 12 years for aggravated sexual assault.
Boy B was sentenced to 15 years for Ana's murder, but his sentence will be reviewed in eight years.
Both boys will also be given new identities following their release from prison.
