Great news for Republic of Ireland online shoppers.

Amazon has launched a new website specifically for customers in Ireland called Amazon.ie.

The online retailer says that the site – available to browse from today (Tuesday, 18 March) – offers shoppers in Ireland “a wide selection of over 200 million products with low prices in euros”.

It also states that customers can enjoy one-day delivery on millions of items and can browse products with clear, local pricing and without additional customs charges.

On top of this, the site includes a dedicated ‘Brands of Ireland’ section, featuring Irish businesses small and large.

Set up with Enterprise Ireland to help both customers find their favourite Irish brands and local businesses achieve greater scale and success, examples of homegrown businesses being spotlighted include Barry’s Tea, Bewley’s, Ella & Jo and Swifter.

While many Irish customers already use Prime on Amazon.co.uk, today also sees the launch of a new local Prime membership on Amazon.ie.

This is available for just €6.99 per month or €69.90 annually and is said to offer vast benefits such as exclusive offers with partners including Odeon Cinemas and Deliveroo.

“Our teams across the country are unbelievably proud and incredibly excited to launch Amazon.ie,” said Alison Dunn, Ireland Country Manager at Amazon, in a statement.

“The store brings a wide selection of great value products with fast delivery to customers in Ireland, a local Prime membership with incredible benefits and savings, and lots of opportunities for Irish businesses to reach more customers.

“We have been building towards this moment since the launch of our Fulfilment Centre in Dublin in 2022, and we can’t wait to write the next chapter of our story in Ireland.”

Taoiseach Micheál Martin TD also commented on the news: “This expansion by Amazon will give consumers more choice and better value, as well as help small, medium and large businesses across the country promote their own Irish and international products.

“By using Amazon, people know that they will get a well-trusted, great service. It’s good news for all.”
