A second weather warning has been issued ahead of the weekend

The second weather warning today.

Earlier today, a status yellow rainfall warning was issued for all of Munster and a further eight counties and now, a second weather warning is in place. The 'weather advisory for Ireland' does not come into effect until Friday evening but in an effort to warn people to be vigilant, Met Éireann has shared the update now. The update from the national forecaster explains that an 'Atlantic Depression' is expected to track eastwards over parts of Ireland throughout Saturday. At this stage, the winds are expected to reach 'yellow warning criteria' but this subject to change and the situation is being monitored by Met Éireann. It's in place from Friday (20) at 6 pm until 23:59 pm on Saturday (21) and adverse conditions, including strong gale force winds, are expected. Below is the latest update:

"South to southeasterly winds on Friday night will veer northwesterly on Saturday and are expected to reach yellow warning criteria, at this stage. There is potential for mean wind speeds of 50 to 60km/h and gusts of 90 to 110km/h, especially in coastal counties".

In the meantime, the status yellow rainfall warning comes into effect at midnight tonight and will last until the same time tomorrow night.
