More than 40,000 people could miss out on Irish Water refund… for a simple reason

More than 40,000 Irish Water customers could miss out on getting their refund - simply because they cannot be contacted. According to Dublin Live,  42,000 people are set to receive the refund, but the utility can't contact them. It is said that people either aren't picking up the phone when Irish Water calls, or they haven't updated their contact details. Nearly 1 million people have received money from Irish Water, with €165m paid out over the last number of months.

Irish Water yesterday stated that it is attempting to obtain details of 25 percent of Ireland, with the Department of Housing saying that €5.7 million could go unclaimed. A spokesperson said: “Irish Water is continuing to use SMS and outbound telephone calls, where we have those details, in a bid to contact those remaining customers who are due a refund. “Refund cheques are continuing to issue as information is verified and updated.” If you have not received your refund yet, you are urged to contact Irish Water by phone on 1850 278 278 or visit this website.
