A 14-year-old boy is said to be in a serious condition after he was hit by a car in Tallaght last night.
According to reports, the incident happened around 8.50 pm, Sunday, February 4, on Cheeverstown Road in the Tallaght area when Sean O’Reilly was on his way home from a friend’s house.
Sean was brought to Our Lady’s Children’s Hospital, Crumlin and is believed to be in the Intensive Care Unit.
Speaking to The Irish Times, Sean’s father John said:
“It’s a feeling of mixed emotions; hurt, annoyance, desperation to find out who did this and desperate for Sean to pull through and make sure he’s ok. He has a long road ahead of him”.
John also said that his son was always safe when cycling and took extra care to keep his lights on.
He asked that anyone with information get in touch with the Gardaí and to imagine being in his position, as a parent.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the hit and run road traffic collision and have described the car involved as a ‘black saloon car, possibly a VW Passat or a Saab’.
Anyone who may have witnessed this collision or who may have information is asked to contact Tallaght Garda Station on 01- 666 6000, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
