WATCH: Raglans Release Brilliant New Video For ‘White Lightning’

Another genius production from filmmaker Finn Keenan.

Raglans are one band from Dublin that we just cannot get enough of and so we’re only delighted that the lads are back with a brand new single, White Lightning.

The four-piece, that take their name from Irish literary Patrick Kavanagh’s poem, ‘Raglan Road’, are together since 2010. The last 12 months has been quite the whirlwind for the band, as they garnered widespread recognition across the UK, as special guests to international acts to Haim and The Libertines in a sold out Hyde Park.

Raglans is made up of lead vocalist Stephen Kelly, bassist Rhos Horan, drummer Conn O’Ruanaidh and Sean O’Brien on guitar and are destined for massive success.

White Lightning, which is slightly reminiscent of OKGO’s ‘The Writing’s On The Wall’, is the latest single taken from their self-titled album, Raglans.

The video was directed and produced by the phenomenal Finn Keenan, who was also behind the band’s first music video, The Man From Glasgow and our favourite Digging Holes.

When we caught up with the band earlier in the year they had only praise for Keenan’s genius film skills.

“He’s the brainchild behind the videos, he was a massive fan of the band and he knows us as people,” Stephen explained.

“We’d no money and did it [Digging Holes] for like 300 quid. We just drove around in a band with no seats, knocking doors of friends and relatives of his, asking to borrow lumberjack gear, fishing gear, boats, getting away with murder.

“We just had to commit to the idea and we believed that he could translate that vision into something good and he did. We must have watched it four or five times in a row.” This new video has us doing much the same.

The lads release White Lightning on October 26th to coincide playing support to US band The Fray during their European tour.
