Finally, some good news, etc.
Beyoncé has finally released the trailer for her upcoming visual album, BLACK IS KING.
The stunning one minute 20 second teaser includes appearances from Lupita Nyong’o, Naomi Campbell, Kelly Rowland, as well as, of course, Queen Bey herself.
Narrating the trailer for the new album, she says: “You, who were formed by the heat of the galaxy, what a thing to be.”
“Both unique and familiar. To be one and the same. And still unlike any other. Life is a set of choices. Lead or be led astray. Follow your light or lose it.”
The eagerly anticipated film was originally supposed to accompany Beyoncé’s soundtrack for the live action reboot of The Lion King, but given the recent protests and resurgence in the Black Lives Matter movement, the star said the album’s message has taken on a more significant meaning.
“The events of 2020 have made the film’s vision and message even more relevant, as people across the world embark on a historic journey,” Beyoncé said on Instagram.
“We are all in search of safety and light. Many of us want change. I believe that when Black people tell our own stories, we can shift the axis of the world and tell our REAL history of generational wealth and richness of soul that are not told in our history books.
“With this visual album, I wanted to present elements of Black history and African tradition, with a modern twist and a universal message, and what it truly means to find your self-identity and build a legacy.”
BLACK IS KING will be released on Disney+ on July 31. You can check out the full trailer here:
