WARNING: Spoilers included for those who have not yet seen last Sunday’s episode of Love/Hate
If it was a plot line, you might find it too far-fetched to believe.
Love/Hate has been lauded as a realistic portrayal of gangland criminal activity in the capital since it first hit our screens, but it seems the recently launched series four has upped the game yet again – by casting a real Garda!
Garda bosses are said to be seriously unimpressed after an undercover detective blew his cover by appearing in the hit show.
Fans of the series were introduced to Detective Garda Ciaran Madden on Sunday night last, a member of the unit hell bent on bringing Nidge and co to justice for their crimes.
Detective Garda Ciaran Madden, played by real life Garda Kieran O’Reilly
What viewers didn’t know, however, is that Ciaran Madden is played by a real life drug squad detective, and now bosses are set to investigate the Garda/actor for a possible breach of discipline.
Thirty-five-year-old Kieran O’Reilly had no previous acting experience, but it seems the role came quite naturally to him, as he has previously been involved in several long-term undercover operations against major criminals.
According to The Irish Independent, disciplinary papers were served on Mr. O’Reilly when he reported for work yesterday.
