Two Door Cinema Club’s lead guitarist Sam Halliday (above left) has admitted he is still homeless despite the band’s massive hits and a chart-topping album.
“I don’t really have a house or anything,” the Northern Irish star told Guilty Pleasures in an exclusive chat. “We can still get the Tube.”
“It’s ridiculous. I just crash at my sister’s house when I am not touring. We sort of moved on from living together in a house and then we moved to LA to record.”
It seems like Halliday still has his feet stuck firmly on the ground…
Chatting about life on the road, he said: “I never really got settled anywhere. I like it because it means I don’t have to worry about stuff everywhere.
“Other people have to worry about council tax and water bills and stuff and all these late final notices they get because they are never in the house. I aspire to be a home live-er one day.”
So, what does he spend his cash on?
Organic food. We’re not joking.
Instead he spends his cash on organic grub.
“We have organic stuff on the rider. That’s apparently good for you. No pesticides for Two Door Cinema Club. Someone watched a documentary and said it was bad for you. We’ll believe anything you tell us.”
But fame has brought a negative turn to their lives too. The boys said they do have a lot of people from their schooldays trying to get in on their success.
“You get a few more people from school that you never usually got texts from in school getting in touch. At Christmas you get the awkward chats from people.”
The three lads, consisting of singer Alex Trimble and bassist Kevin Baird, have also been rubbing shoulders with actress Jennifer Aniston after experiencing the California life to record their hit album Beacon.
“We got to live in Santa Monica so by the beach. It was a completely different environment entirely.We took a break from going out and being crazy every night.
“We did walk past Jennifer Aniston one night. That was pretty cool. I didn’t realise until she walked past. I was just in my own world. She was probably looking at us, you know.”
We’re jealous Sam… but maybe a house should be next on your cards? Or at least a tent?
