Hailing from Northern Ireland, Relish sprung into the Irish music scene with hit singles Rainbow Zephyr and You I’m Thinking Of in the early noughties.
Brothers Ken and Carl Papenfus (vocals, guitar, drums and keyboard) were previously joined in the line-up by bass player Darren Campbell and the three released platinum album Wildflowers in 2001 and Karma Calling in 2003 on label EMI.
The group’s authentic blend of soul and classic rock gained a widespread fanbase including Queen’s Brian May, Paul Weller and Larry Mullen of U2 before they parted ways with their record label in 2005 and took a hiatus to pursue other solo projects.
Following the release of Connected in 2011, Ken and Carl have most recently been performing as part of Sinead O’Connor’s backing band but the duo are now making a comeback as Relish.
We invited them to join us for The Sunday Sessions to perform new single Got It Made and a cover of Stevie Wonder’s I Believe.
