That’s the message from Meteor and The Choice Music Prize today as the shortlist is announced for the Meteor Choice Music Prize Irish Song of the Year 2012.
Now in its second year, the Meteor Choice Music Prize- Irish Song of the Year 2012 celebrates Ireland’s favourite homegrown song of the previous year and encourages people to show their support and get behind great Irish music.
So are these the 10 greatest home-grown songs of 2012?
The Coronas – Mark My Words
Delorentos – Care For
Glen Hansard – High Hope
Heathers – Forget Me Knots
Gavin James – Say Hello
Kodaline – All I Want
Le Galaxie feat Elaine Mai – Love System
The Script – Hall of Fame
SOAK – ‘Sea Creatures
Villagers – The Waves
The shortlisted songs have now been put to a public vote with the overall winner to be revealed at the Meteor Choice Music Prize live event on March 7th.

The winning entry will be announced at the live event on March 7th and awarded the Meteor Choice Music Prize Irish Song of the Year Trophy along with a prize fund of €3,000.
