Lead singer of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Anthony Kiedis, was hospitalised yesterday forcing the band to cancel a concert in Irvine, California.
Reuters report that Kiedis was taken from the Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre with extreme stomach pain, but the exact nature of the problem is as yet unknown.
Bassist for the band Flea made the announcement to the 16,000 capacity venue last night, telling the crowd that the band was devastated the concert wouldn’t be going ahead.
“Anthony is on his way to the hospital right now and we’re unable to play this evening. We’re really sad. We love you so much. We live to rock…But unfortunately there’s a medical thing that happened and he needed to deal with it.”
Drummer, Chad Smith tweeted about the event:
NO one’s more disappointed than us that we couldn’t perform tonight. Sending love and a speedy recovery to my brother Anthony.
