Not too many Irish people have been singing ‘Yeah, Yeah, Yeah’ when it comes to Chris Brown’s Dublin visit this week.
While we gave our own take on our reasons for staying away on these pages yesterday (see here if you missed it), those who did attend his O2 concert last night seemed none too impressed.
Reports since have claimed that the R&B singer played for less than an hour, and was booed by the audience when he stated that Dublin was his “favorite city in the UK”.
It seems his welcome was even cooler after the gig, with one Dublin venue taking to their Twitter page to deny he was welcomed there last night.
Grafton Lounge on Dublin’s Dawson Street has been a bit of a celeb-fave in recent months, with Cheryl Cole spotted there with her current beau after her October O2 date and One Direction popping in while in the capital last month also.
Harry Styles of One Direction fame snapped partying in the venue
And while it would be understandable that any nightspot would want to play up any celebrity association, this was certainly NOT the case when it came to Brown. In the last hour, managers of Grafton Lounge tweeted: “Contrary to some misleading press reports Chris Brown did not frequent The Grafton Lounge during his stay here in Dublin.”
They added: “We were approached about an official after party but we declined.”
Not the kind of person we’d be too keen on partying with either, so we can completely understand the call.
