Tonight, in the last instalment of The X Factor bootcamp we saw yet another Irish contestant’s hopes dashed.
Cowell, who will mentor this year’s ‘Overs’ category, had a tough decision on his hands when the final contestant Helen Fullthorpe brought the metaphorical roof off the arena with a rendition of Pink’s ‘Nobody Knows‘.
The 34-year-old was given a seat despite there being no places left. In a cruel twist, Cowell asked Lizzy Pattinson, to leave the competition before caving to pressure from the audience.
As the crowd booed, the show’s head honcho changed his mind and asked Dubliner Janet Grogan to leave, a decision that he now regrets.
The Irish singer performed U2’s ‘Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For’ on Saturday night’s show.
The music mogul took to Twitter to admit that he should’ve kept the 26-year-old:
I should have kept Janet. My mistake.
