The phrase ‘not to be missed’ gets thrown around quite a lot, but we promise you that three ladies from Wicklow that go by the stage name Wyvern Lingo, are one act that you need to see live.
We previously noted Wyvern Lingo as our favourite find at this year’s Electric Picnic Festival and after a phenomenally successful EP launch at Dublin’s Smock Alley Theatre last week, the trio announced a headlining date at The Sugar Club, Dublin.
The band, which is made up of friends Saoirse Duane on guitar, drummer Caoimhe Barry and Karen Cowley on keys, released their debut EP The Widow Knows last month.
Together the girls captivate crowds with their haunting vocals and perfect harmonies and have spent the last five years mastering their craft and writing songs.
Two thirds of the group provide backing vocals for Hozier and racked up credits with other acts that include Zaska, Samuel Vas-Y and Trinity Orchestra. Wyvern Lingo will support fellow Wicklow native Hozier on his sell-out Irish tour, which kicks off on December 4th.
Tickets for the trio’s headline show at The Sugar Club, Dublin on Thursday February 26th are priced €13.50 (including booking fee) and go on sale this Friday October 24th at 9am via Ticketmaster.
For more information on the band you can check out their Facebook page, Twitter and wyvernlingo.com.
To whet your appetite we will leave you with Wyvern Lingo’s latest single, Used. Stay tuned for the band’s special performance for The Sunday Sessions coming later in the year.
