Michelle Obama to Release Hip-Hop Album

A new step forward for the First Lady.

Una Kavanagh

Michelle Obama is trying to combat childhood obesity – with music.

Titled “Songs for a Healthier America”, the new multi-genre feature top singers Jordin Sparks, Ashanti and DMC. It’s hoped that the music will help tackle the issue of obesity and promote healthy eating.

The First Lady made a cameo appearance in one of the songs off the album where she spoke about her “Let’s Move” campaign.

The 19-track album includes songs like Veggie Luv, We Like Vegetables, and U R What You Eat.

Surely we’re not the only ones who hope that Michelle will eventually feature in her very own hip-hop dance vid like she did on Jimmel Fallon? No? We can dream on:

“Songs for a Healthier America” is being produced by Hip Hop Public Health in conjunction with Partnership for a Healthier America, and will be released as a free download on September 30th.
