Former X Factor star Luke Friend has reportedly had a claim filed against him by Future Music Ltd. – who run TeenStar –  for breach of contract.

According to reports, the 18-year-old won TeenStar before rising to fame on The X Factor where he scooped third spot back in 2013.

Now, Future Music Ltd. are threatening the singer with a £100,000 fine for breaching the terms of their agreement.

The company has filed the complaint with the County Court Business Centre.

Luke appeared on the X Factor in 2013.

According to the rules of the TeenStar competition: “Competition finalists, defined as any act making the Grand Final, acknowledge and agree to make themselves available for appearances and promotion for an 18-month period for the end of the competitions for a minimum of five times.”

However, speaking to The Mirror Chris Grayston of Future Music said: “We invested a lot of money in Luke and coached him throughout the X Factor process.”

“We advised him on song choices and even helped run his social media and that fan following was what helped him in the competition,” Grayston continued.

“Now he says he has no intention of honouring our agreement and playing the five gigs and says we ought to be happy with him playing one unannounced gig for us.

“I’m not going to stand in his way of success, but I’m not going to waive my rights either,” he concluded.

Luke’s song Hole in My Heart has entered the Top 40.
