It might seem that their lives are a constant stream of parties, TV appearances and singing on stage to hoards of screaming fans but the one Direction Boys have decided to put their celebrity status to good use.
Having recently visited Africa as part of Comic Relief’s Red Nose Day, the five-piece have also teamed up with the charity to record the organisation’s official Red Nose Day single, a cover of Blondie’s One Way Or Another.
And 19-year-old Niall seems to have been particularly affected by the trip and has taken to Twitter to ask his nine million followers to help the poor in Ghana.
He tweeted: “Just arrived back from Accra, Ghana! Best life experience ever! This @rednoseday please get involved!
“I’ve seen the slums right in front of me! This is no joke! They really need your help! Poverty is real!”
The boys will perform the single on March 15th
Bandmate and serial dater Harry Styles also took to the social networking site to express his gratitude to the organisations for letting the band be involved.
He said: “We have grown up with Comic Relief and taken part in lots of Red Nose Days at school so we were thrilled to be asked to do the Red Nose Day single.
“It’s such an honour for us. We can’t wait to perform our version of this iconic pop song and raise as much money as possible for this incredibly important cause that is really close to our hearts.
The single goes on sale next month before Red Nose Day takes place on March 15th.
