It is one of our favourite spots to head to in Dublin but it’s going to be taken over by a former X Factor star soon.
That’s right Matt Cardle has conveniently, just in time with this year’s final, revealed that he will play a series of ‘unplugged’ gigs next year one of which will be in Whelan’s.
Matt won the X Factor back in 2010 and has released two albums since then.
The singer, who won the show back in 2010 and famously said that it tried to change who he was (not such a wise move considering he was then dropped by his record label), has just finished a tour with his band but is due to do another one.
Thank goodness he let us know. All is now right with the world!
Apparently Matt, who has come a long way since he auditioned for the talent show, will be doing an acoustic set including a number of songs from his debut album Letters and second album The Fire, which was only released a couple of months ago.
He is doing a series of gigs next year including one in Whelan’s, Dublin.
Speaking about it, he said: “It won’t be a plod. This will have shape and dynamic – I can’t wait to get out and give it a go live.” And no, we’re not quite sure what plod means either but we’re assuming it’s something dull that you’d want to avoid.
Anyway tickets for the gig on April 24th 2013 cost €25, including your booking fee, and go on sale this Wednesday. They are available through Ticketmaster.
