It might have seemed like a great idea at the time but we wouldn’t be surprised if Cheryl Cole was regretting the Girls Aloud reunion considering the impact it has had on her solo career.
The Geordie star is delaying the release of her new song, Screw You (wonder who that’s about?!), in order to focus on the girl group who recently got back together for a reunion album and tour.
Cheryl originally decided to do both but according to reports this morning it all became a bit confusing and also seemed to have an impact on sales.
Girls Aloud got back together this year to mark their 10-year anniversary.
A source told the Daily Mirror: “Cheryl originally planned for her solo material to coincide with the Girls Aloud promo schedule. That way, it was thought they would cross-advertise each other.
“Unfortunately, it just felt a bit confusing to have both going on at once.” Yea, we can see how having a whole two things going on could be an issue.
Cheryl’s Under The Sun single didn’t reach the top ten in the UK charts.
“After the girls’ single lost out to Olly Murs in the race for number one and Cheryl’s single failed to reach the top 10, it was decided to focus all the attention on Girls Aloud for the time being,” the insider explained.
Finally a reason for Cheryl’s Under the Sun not doing well. We really were losing sleep over that one for the last few weeks.
Anyway the 29-year-old is said to be concentrating on Girls Aloud at the moment including their tour after which she might turn her attention back to her solo material. Anybody else thinking they can wait for that?
