U2 are one of the richest bands on the planet right now, but not everyone is pleased about the fact that Bono and co are raking in so much cash. Isn’t that right Glen Hansard?
The Frames frontman made a dig at U2 on live radio for not paying any taxes in Ireland, unlike himself, who has no problem paying the Government what he owes them.
“For the first time in my life I’ve got a few quid. Then you start thinking about taxes and you think ‘right, I’m paying this crazy tax rate because I’m making money,’” he said, speaking to Ray D’arcy on Today FM.
“And you’ve got mates going, ‘get that money off side, I know what you can do, go live in that country or register in this one.’ This country gave me an education, it made me who I am. I am trading all around the world on being an Irish guy, so why wouldn’t I pay my taxes?” he added.

Glen stated that he didn't agree with U2's philosophy on paying taxes in Ireland.
When Glen was asked about U2, who moved their business from Ireland to Holland back in 2006 after a cap was put on the generous tax breaks available to artists here, Glen said: “I don’t agree with that philosophy.”
“I would love for the Irish people just to find a voice, a solidarity and speak out…just rise up and make some comment. We lie down and we take everything that’s thrown at us,” he added.
Do you agree with what Glen is saying? Were U2 wrong to move their business abroad?
