Una Kavanagh

It’s looking good for Jay Z! The rapper has been nominated for nine awards at this year’s Grammys including one for Rap Album and two nominations in the Rap/Sung Collaboration category.

However the rapper isn’t the only one to be nominated for several awards, Kendrick Lamar, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Pharrell and Justin Timberlake have earned seven nominations a piece.

“Seven is unbelievable,” Ryan Lewis told CNN. “We came here hoping for one.”

17-year-old New Zealand singer-songwriter Lorde earned nominations for record of the year, song of the year and best pop solo performance as well as having her debut album “Pure Heroine” nominated for best pop album.

“She’s pretty unstoppable right now,” said producer Jimmy Jam. “She had a great performance tonight, which I think will resonate in people’s minds. She’s so young, but a great songwriter. I think the sky’s the limit for her.”

Robin Thicke and Pharrell Williams’ hit “Blurred Lines,” has been nominated for song of the year and best pop duo/group.

The nominations were announced on Friday during a concert at the Nokia Theater in LA. There are 82 categories for the Grammys, full list of nominees can be seen on their website here.
