Like most women in Ireland, we were distraught when Westlife announced that they were calling it a day but we are overjoyed at the prospect of one of them appearing on next year’s Eurovision!
Apparently Shane Filan, who is said to be concentrating on his solo music career, is the favourite to represent Ireland in the competition.
Shane Filan could be taking to the stage next year on behalf of the country.
The Irish Independent reports that the pop star is getting the bookies’ vote after rumours emerged the singer has agreed to take part in Eurosong, a programme involving five mentors who source potential songs and performers for the international show.
If Shane does end up doing it, it could be the very thing he needs to kick-start his career without the other boys. After all, pop duo Jedward have enjoyed a great deal of success following their participation.
Jedward have taken part in the competition and did very well off the back of it.
Others in the frame include former X Factor hopeful Melanie McCabe, You’re a Star winner Leanne Moore and Glee’s Damien McGinty.
We know who will be getting our vote anyway!
